Even though fabric can be sold in single width (about 75 centimetres), tartan is generally sold in “double width” (about 150 centimetres). Both width are used for making kilts. You simply need half the length if it's double.

 You can either order yourself the fabric and send it to me to my address in France or I can take care of everything.

This is the required length of fabric I need for a kilt :

6 metres (3 metres double width) for a Box Pleated Kilt
  7 metres (3.5 metres double width) for a Double Box Pleated Kilt
  9 metres (4.5 metres double width) for a Kingussie Kilt
8 metres (4 metres double width) for a Knife Pleated Kilt

The size and number of your pleats will depend on many things:
the gentlemen's size, the size of the sett of the tartan, the pleating style ( Double Box, Kingussie...)
